We had a great time at Catterick Urban Ops last weekend for the Operation Urgent Response game.  The weather did us a favour and stayed nice and sunny for most of the weekend, with only a few light showers, so everyone seemed to enjoy getting stuck in and running around the FIBUA village, which doubled as the Sudanese capital city of Khartoum for the weekend.

Fighting broke out in the city following an assassination attempt on King Jubba Jubba’s daughter, Princess Cindy Chuffa, during a rally held to celebrate the princess’ birthday.  Fortunately the princess survived the attempt, although her loyal bodyguard was killed by the sniper and the violence that erupted in the wake of the assassination attempt engulfed the city as the forces of the King’s Loyal Tribal Army clashed with the military forces of General Fyid.

There were plenty of hard fought battles for territory and strategic buildings around the site, but with King Jubba Jubba Chuffa’s Loyalist Tribal Forces making early gains they maintained their lead throughout the game.
In spite of a boost to General Fyid’s Forces towards the end, earning big point gains for securing the city’s arms caches and the military intelligence asset, Codename: Icarus, who they located and retrieved from Hubba Bubba’s Balti House, King Jubba Jubba’s victory was assured with a final points tally of 1789 to 1564.  You can read the King’s message to his people following the event here on the Stirling forum.

A definite high-light of the weekend was seeing Hubba Bubba’s Balti House in action.  Serving bowls of curry right there in the middle of an airsoft warzone might sound like an odd idea, but the curry house was a roaring success.  The girls sold out of curry within 20 minutes of opening up shop and spent the rest of their time in there entertaining the troops by dancing around in their saris, singing “We are the Balti Girls.”

On a more serious note, we were visited at Catterick this weekend by the guys from BamakoBampots.org who are a charity trying to raise money to provide two Land Rover ambulances for the town of Bamoko in Mali.  If you want to help, please visit their site and check out the various ways that you can make a donation or help them to raise money.

Ovany posted a link in the forums to a set of photos from the weekend that he’s uploaded.
If anyone else has any pics or videos from the game, go right ahead and post the link to them in the comments section (especially if you got pictures of Kelli and Kirsty in Hubba Bubba’s Balti House ;-) )

If you were at the game, let us know your highlights in the comments below.
