This week saw the launch of a brand new social networking website made especially for airsofters.
SocialSkirmish.net is a new initiative from the people behind Everything-Airsoft.com and as they put it in the blurb on the new site
socialskirmish.net, the internets latest and greatest social network made by airsofters for airsofters. All the features you love about the internets biggest social-networking websites are available at socialskirmish.net. Sign up now and personalize your space with pictures of your weapons and loadouts, videos of your events and skirmishes and connect to friends and teams from all over the world. Have fun.
So, in short, it’s like Facebook, but just for airsofters. Which might make you wonder, “Why not just stick with Facebook?” After all there are plenty of airsoft groups on there, like the Stirling Airsoft page and you can still keep in touch with all of your non-airsofting friends as well.
The benefit of SocialSkirmish.net comes from being able to connect with other airsoft players from around the world, as well as with those from the UK who are already familiar with Stirling Airsoft. I’ve only been using the service for a couple of days since the site launched, but have already had a few interesting chats with airsoft players from as far afield as New Zealand and America, as well as connecting with a few of the other UK-based airsofters who have been quick to sign up.
It’s certainly never going to replace Facebook as the main social network site for keeping in touch with friends from around the world, but as a way of connecting with other airsofters as well as sharing photos from airsoft games and news of upcoming events, it’s a great deal better than some of the other sites I’ve seen recently that have tried to do the same thing. The site seems to be gaining new members quite quickly and it’ll be interesting to see how much it continues to grow and develop over the coming weeks and months.
If you’re interested, you can head over to SocialSkirmish.net and sign up to begin creating your own profile and start connecting with other airsoft players. You can find the Stirling Airsoft profile here and there is also a team group for Stirling Airsoft that you can join here.
And while you’re signing up for new web services, don’t forget about Stirling Airsoft on Twitter where you can keep up to date with news (and general ramblings) from Team Stirling as well as live updates of the scores during airsoft events like this weekend’s Op. Silent Eye – England Vs Scotland game.
